walls and barriers-Homophobia

hey!
so for my walls and barriers project, I'm thinking about doing homophobia as my topic, and maybe touch up on religion. so homophobia and religion. And when I think about hopmophobia and religion, I think are people homophobic because of religious beleifs? or is it just ignorant people using the bible to justify their hate? both I guess. But yeah. I'm not necessarly going to make it homophobia AND religion, but its just my idea that my topic is based on. so maybe I can do something along the lines that represent both homophobia and religion together. Its just a thought.

Blood Wedding Logo

Original Photo

This was my idea for the T-shirt. A line drawing of the three of them. It was a challenge to do, especially their hair lines (which I dont really like how it turned out on Jasmine and Torry's photo. But it was the best I could do.) I put to linked rings as the O's in blood, just to be a bit more creative. then the quote at the bottom. I think that it resembles the actual photograph well enough to know what you are looking at. (And you can look at the actual photpgraph to compare if you'd like.)

This photo I didnt lighten it or anything, so it may be a bit dark, but thats what I traced in Illustrator. I think they look alike.

Blood Wedding Poster

So, here is my Blood wedding poster. It took a while to do because i didnt have any ideas for it. After a while, I decided to do bloody text to represent the blood in the play, and there photographs, I think, says enough. Its pretty intense. I love how each charector has a different expression on their face that kind of shows what they are like in the play. Torry-completelty in love with this girl. Jasmine-confused about what and who she wants, and alex-the well built one who wants and is passionate for jasmine. or their charectors. They did a great job posing for this photograph. its says alot. like conflict.

The process was actually quite fun. Especially the photo shoot. We got the three of them on the poster to dress up, and we directed the photo shoot. We told them how to pose and what not. we also let them put in a couple of poses of their own. The photograph I used was a picture that I took. After that, we sat together in class, and we looked at all the photographs we took, then individually chose the photos we would like to work with. Then we hoped on the computers and got it done.

I didn't want to put a moon, because thats seemed to be a popular topic, so I just put creative text. and I used the gradient tool for the background. I did not origionaly know how to do the bloody text effect so i found a tutorial online, and it REALLY helped. heres the linke if you want to give it a go as well:http://www.photoshop-dragon.com/Tutorials/Text_Effects/Dripping_Blood_Text.htm It really helped me, it's easy to follow, and it was also fun learning how to do something new on photshop.

i would say it met some of the elements and pricipals of design, like color, emphasis, balance. I like the titlte emphasis's (in a way) what the play is about. Its bloody text, so if you look at it, i would asume that you would asume the play has blood invoved. which makes it interesting, and more people may want to see it.

color, well the poster is in color. i would say the red text and the grey-black background matches it well because it kind of gives of that "dark" or "something bad is going to happen" vibe.

balance. well the charectors are pretty balanced. torry and alex are both cut of near the same places (the side of there heads) so it looks even. and i like the position jsamine in in. I would say it was well put together. everything kind of fits in a way, i guess. unity. If i could change anything, i would probebly position the text so its not behind torry; so you can see the blood thats dripping behind him.

judging by the "thank you's" on the anouncements by Mr. Danakas, I would say that my poster and the others posters (and by "others" mean my graphics class who did awsome posters as well) were done well enough for him to like.

I like it and I think it turned out pretty well, but i cant help but feel i could have done better....
